The person behind the name
Four decades in yarn and fabric exports, and a voice for the Indian cotton textile trade at national level.
Manoj Patodia
Manoj Patodia grew up in Calcutta and came to Mumbai, where he finished his education. As the eldest son he went straight into the business — no apprenticeship anywhere else, no gradual handover.
Four decades later, his time is still divided between the factory and the customer. He has spent it developing products and working with the technologies as they arrived, from the shift out of pure cotton into polyester and blends, through the reshaping of global textile trade around India.
That experience is what he has taken into the industry bodies he has led, and he is also a Director of Prime Urban Development Ltd.
Where he represents the trade
Five national and regional bodies covering cotton textile exports, industry policy and the MSME sector.
Past President of the Rotary Club of Bombay, the largest Rotary club in Asia with over 300 members. Presenting the Citizen of Mumbai Award to Mrs Nita Mukesh Ambani.
